Chrome Moly Piping For Corrosion And Creep Resistance
Astm a335 p22 seamless pipe delivers excellent corrosion resistance and creep strength, ideal for high-temperature boiler pipeline protection in power plants and petrochemical industries.
ASTM A335 P22 Pipe is a seamless ferritic alloy steel pipe designed for high-temperature and high-pressure service. With a composition of 1.90–2.60% chromium and 0.87–1.13% molybdenum, this Chrome Moly Pipe provides excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for boilers, power plants, refineries, and petrochemical facilities.
The pipe is manufactured through hot-rolling or cold-drawing processes and undergoes specific heat treatment to achieve optimal mechanical properties. It is suitable for bending, flanging, and fusion welding. Preheating (around 200°C) and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) are recommended to ensure weld integrity and avoid cracking.
ASTM A335 P22 alloy pipes are available in sizes ranging from 1/2” to 24” (DN15–DN600) with wall thicknesses from SCH 40 to SCH 160. Standard and custom lengths up to 12 meters are available. Surface coatings such as varnish, 3LPE, or FBE can be applied to improve durability and corrosion resistance. The pipe ends can be supplied as plain, beveled, or threaded for easier installation.
These seamless alloy steel pipes meet the requirements of ASTM A335/ASME SA335 standards and undergo stringent quality tests such as tensile, flattening, hardness, hydrostatic, and nondestructive inspections.
Compared with P11 and P5 grades, P22 offers enhanced performance for long-term operation in high-pressure and high-temperature environments. It is also widely used in producing elbows, tees, reducers, and other pipe fittings under ASTM A234 WP22 standards, ensuring compatibility in complex industrial piping systems.
ASTM A335 P22 Pipes address critical industrial needs such as thermal fatigue resistance, erosion control, and corrosion protection in steam pipelines and superheaters. Their robust chemical structure, dimensional flexibility, and exceptional service performance make them a cost-effective and long-lasting solution for demanding applications.
Operates reliably at temperatures up to 600°C, suitable for boilers, headers, and superheaters.
Chromium and molybdenum improve resistance against oxidation, scaling, and chemical attack.
Ferritic-martensitic structure provides excellent strength under high-pressure conditions.
Compatible with common welding techniques, ensuring easy field fabrication and repairs.
Sustains performance over extended exposure to elevated temperatures and thermal cycling.
Balance of performance and affordability makes P22 ideal for long-term industrial use.
